Cantautrice e chitarrista, nasce in provincia di Lecce nel 1990 e fin da subito si distingue per il suo stile compositivo caratterizzato da una forte componente emotiva e lirica.
Tra le sue recenti attività, nel 2024 è ospite del prestigioso Festival della canzone Italiana a Parigi e realizza un tour in Giappone che la vede esibirsi in alcune delle città più iconiche del paese, tra cui Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya e Nara.
Nel corso della sua attività musicale ha collaborato con artisti di di spicco della scena musicale italiana, consolidando la sua posizione nella musica d’autore, tra i più significativi: Tosca (ospite del singolo “Terronda” di Cristiana Verardo e Carolina Bubbico, entrambe poi ospiti speciali nel concerto di Tosca tenuto a dicembre 2022 all’ Auditorium Parco della Musica), Vinicio Capossela (con il quale duetta nel Festival “Maul – Omaggio ad Enzo Del Re 2023”), Ferruccio Spinetti, Moni Ovadia, Gnut, Carmine Tundo, La Municipàl, Erica Mou e Davide Shorty.
Esordisce nel 2017 con l’album La mia voce (Workin’ Label), nel 2021 pubblica il suo secondo lavoro discografico Maledetti ritornelli (G-ro dischi) anticipato dall’omonimo documentario che racconta la genesi della title track composta “on the road” con il cantautore napoletano Gnut. Dall’uscita dell’album realizza un tour nazionale ed internazionale facendo tappa in alcuni importanti club e festival in Italia, Spagna e Albania.
Tra gli otto vincitori di Musicultura 2023 e vincitrice assoluta del Premio Bianca d’Aponte 2019 nel 2022 è componente della resident band (diretta da Carmine Tundo) di “Tonica”, il programma musicale di Andrea Delogu su Rai 2 e insieme a La Municipàl partecipa al programma “Meraviglioso Modugno” su Rai 1. È stata ospite di trasmissioni televisive e radiofoniche sui canali Rai quali “Stereonotte”, “In viva voce” e Rai News 24 e durante i giorni del festival della musica italiana di Sanremo (2020), sul palco del Club Tenco. Cristiana Verardo sings her original songs from the new release “Maledetti ritornelli” (GROdischi/Believe, 2021) and from her debut album “La mia voce” (Workin’ Label/IRD, 2017), both of them often addressing important issues that narrate stories, develop thoughts and restore dignity to feelings which are often impudently hidden. Between one song and another, there are words, memories, thoughts to share, that help to bring the audience closer to the artist in a way that only live music can, with its immediacy, uniqueness, intensity.
This musical and narrative blend also includes songs that are steeped in the history of Italian music together with the songs of her land, Salento. Performing these pieces is sort of a love act and, while staying true to the artists’ compositional choices, a continuous research to find unknown parts that only she manages to reveal by recalling them.
The new album “Maledetti ritornelli” is composed by 8 tracks and was released by G-ROdischi and distributed by Believe. The album represents the story of a time lived on the thematic thread of feelings, within a suspended and intimate everyday life: in the songs there are memories of past loves that come back to be felt, the torments, the emotions of the present and the unpredictability of the future, for a mosaic that slowly comes together, almost whispering the authenticity of existence and the passions that run through it.
Winner of the Bianca d’Aponte Award 2019, she is graduated in Jazz Singing (2014) and Jazz Music (2017). In February 2021, she published “Maledetti ritornelli – behind the song” produced by Teresa Film with the support of Puglia Sounds Producers 2020/2021 under the direction of Giuseppe Pezzulla, a documentary narrating the genesis of “Maledetti ritornelli”, a song composed on the road with the singer-songwriter from Naples, Gnut.
In the 2020/2021 she opened the concerts of important Italian artists, such as Daniele Silvestri, Raphael Gualazzi, Simona Molinari, Musica Nuda, Grazia di Michele, Mariella Nava, Rossana Casale, Bugo, and Paolo Benvegnù. In the summer 2017 she worked with Moni Ovadia for the project “L’infinito e la saudade” by Marco Poeta. Since 2019, she’s been the author and performer, together with Enza Pagliara, of the project “Rrosa”, focused on the life of Rosa Balistreri, a Sicilian storyteller who is considered as the first Italian female songwriter. In that same year, she started working with Redi Hasa, a worldwide known cellist and member of the “Ludovico Einaudi Ensemble”.
She participated as a guest in important TV and radio shows on RAI channels, such as “Stereonotte”, “In viva voce” and Rai News 24. In 2021, she was interviewed for the book “Donne e Folk” by Chiara Ferrari, published by Interno4Edizioni.
